PRESS RELEASE: Gorillas! an AR game from The Ellen Fund

PRESS RELEASE

THE ELLEN FUND AND AUGMENTED REALITY APP KRIKEY CREATE AN IMMERSIVE GAMING EXPERIENCE WITH GORILLAS IN RWANDA

SAN FRANCISCO - June 3, 2019 -- Krikey (krikey.com), an Augmented Reality (AR) mobile gaming application where users can play 3D games that interact with the real world, today announced its partnership with The Ellen Fund to launch Gorillas! an augmented reality game by The Ellen Fund (TheEllenFund.org) in an effort to raise awareness for gorillas in Rwanda.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi shared, "Seeing the mountain gorillas in Rwanda was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. We want everyone to be able to feel what it's like to be there, and with our game Gorillas! by The Ellen Fund you absolutely can.

With just their mobile phone camera, players can step into the breathtaking mountains of Rwanda where they will join a family of gorillas. Survival in the forest depends on speed and skill. Tap to break the termite mounds and bamboo, tap faster to eat the termites and berries! The goal of the game is to keep your energy bar full - the longer you are in the game the more gorilla animations you can unlock.

Once users complete their gameplay, they can choose to share a personalized video with friends and send a donation to The Ellen Fund to support conservation efforts for endangered species.

“We created Krikey to encourage conservation and bridge that gap between inspiration and reality,” said Ketaki Shriram, Krikey CTO. “Not everyone can travel to Rwanda to trek with gorillas but with augmented reality, anyone can step into the forest and experience the beauty and peacefulness of the ecosystem.”

Krikey, currently available for free on the App Store and Google Play, allows users to play Augmented Reality games in real-time with friends anywhere in the world.

The Ellen Fund supports global conservation efforts for endangered species, with its first initiative to build the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in northern Rwanda focused on mountain gorilla conservation.
