Entry No. 1, Bisate, Rwanda
I can’t believe I’m back in Rwanda! This time last year I was planning Ellen’s birthday trip to East Africa...
...and now I’ve returned for my second visit to “the land of a thousand hills” ... and for another huge milestone in our lives. I’m in the north of the country on the edge of Volcano National Park and it’s stunningly beautiful here.
I also can’t believe that the groundbreaking for the Campus is tomorrow—the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. I love Ellen and Dian’s names right next to each other. I know our friends at the Fossey Fund have been busy preparing all the final touches for this special event. (Did you see that sneak peek of the new aerial rendering of the Campus?!)

Tonight I will fall asleep knowing that, in the national park just down the road, there are magnificent mountain gorillas also sleeping – the last of them in existence. And in the morning we will all celebrate the groundbreaking for the Campus that can help them live on. Ellen and I are so excited!
